That's exciting. I like knowing God owns everything. Think how crazy it would be if there was an actual copyright symbol on stuff that everyone could see... something that the world couldn't dismiss.

The term limit amendment wasn't passed until 1947. The founding fathers may have willingly passed on a potential 3rd term for all the right reasons, but the presidency was ultimately left for the people to decide.

The only thing the law has done is lump the voting majority in the same "power corrupts" statement. Now, "We the People" can't be trusted to elect our officials? Sure... most voters are idiots, easily influenced... but it's their nation too, right?

I believe a good leader CAN become bad... so we elect another. However, I can't help but think that if a good leader wanted to remain a leader, he would continue to do the wishes of the people. Take W.Bush for example... What was his motivation to NOT push his agenda as radically as possible? His legacy? Meh...

The founding fathers took the idea of a sinful nature seriously. If people with power can be corrupted by power then it is good to change it out a few people. Does absolute power corrupt absolutely?
Can we trust people enough?

Another thought is that the Founding Fathers maybe didn't want the country won by professional politicians. What if we had regular people who could relate to regular people to rule regular people?

I think term limits are:

great for the minority.
great for slowing change to the status quo.
a weird way to ensure long-term quality leadership.

I understand the framers are all smarter than me in their reasons for term limits... but it sounds kind of like laying off the experienced managers and replacing them with young employees, fresh out of school.

What if we actually DID get a quality leader that all people could learn to compromise with?.. We simply don't possess the freedom to keep him.

We're talking about doing away with term limits, right?... not doing away with elections.

I understand what happened to you a little bit. I am like a time cop and I feel like I must be busy doing something all of the time. I am extremely hard on myself and then I have fallen into the trap of thinking that everyone is waisting time, so don't swing too far over on the other side. You may actually drive yourself crazy, not to mention your friends. It is your "chilled, and relaxed" self that I love about you. I needed to experience a little laid back. Balance is the key here. As long as priorites are in the right place then I don't see how time can be waisted. I have also read many blogs lately about this very subject. It's interesting. Getting a fire lit under you butt is cool huh? Sometimes a little bit hard to take too. :) You wouldn't appreciate the time that you have now infront of you if you didn't experience what it means to actually waste some of it. God works in mysterious ways.

We need to hate more things than we do. I am not saying hate PEOPLE. I am saying hate. Like I need to hate my debt, not be comfortable with it. I need to hate my laziness to work out. I need to hate my bad eating habits. I need to hate my waste. I need to hate my apathy. I need to hate my sins...

I am sorry John David for calling you Trish - oops! I bet you hate being called Trish -- LOL.
I love you big guy and wanted you to know that spending those 3 days with you and Trish helped me to love you both very much.

Wow, Trish - what brought that on?????
I try to not use the word hate - I "dislike" something or someone. It has been a long time since I have felt hatred.
There is usually good in everyone and we can usually find good in all situations - - given time, patience and the will to love that person more.
